Mesh Networking Module from Silicon Labs Simplifies Thread and ZigBee Connectivity

Silicon Labs (NASDAQ: SLAB) has introduced a new family of Wireless Gecko modules focused on mesh networking applications with support for best-in-class ZigBee® and Thread software. Silicon Labs’ new MGM111 module is the first in this comprehensive family of multiprotocol modules based on the Mighty Gecko system-on-chip (SoC) device. The MGM111 module is supported by Silicon Labs’ reliable, secure and flexible mesh protocol stacks and the industry’s most advanced wireless software development tools. The module’s combination of onboard stacks, antenna options and RF regulatory certifications helps developers reduce cost, complexity and time to market for an array of mesh networking applications including home and building automation, connected lighting, smart metering, security systems and other IoT platforms.

NXP Expands Plug'n Play NFC Portfolio: New Controller and Arduino Add-on Boards

NXP today expanded its advanced portfolio for plug-and-play (Near Field Communication) NFC solutions with Arduino™ add-on boards and the release of PN7150, a high performance NFC controller with integrated firmware and NCI interface. The expanded portfolio enables easier and faster integration of NFC technology in consumer electronic devices, especially in OS-based systems.

Building Better Development Experiences

Leveraging its sophisticated portfolio of microcontrollers, the PN71xx family, now, comes with various add-on boards, software examples and supports development platforms featuring an Arduino stackable header, including Kinetis, LPCXpresso, i.MX, and QorIQ, allowing for rapid NFC expansion and prototyping.

Modelithics and Coilcraft Collaborate to Offer New Microwave Global Models™ for High Frequency Conical Inductor Series

Modelithics, Inc. and Coilcraft Inc. have teamed to develop two (2) new Microwave Global Models™ for the Coilcraft BCL and BCR RF and microwave inductor families. Modelithics Microwave Global Models are high-accuracy equivalent circuit models that cover an entire component series within a single model. These powerful models, unique to Modelithics, feature substrate, pad and part value scalability (or selectability), and accurately predict parasitic effects based on the model parameter settings. These features allow designers to simulate condition-specific response of their designs electronically and perform advanced analysis of their designs with efficiency and accuracy.

AVX Releases New 2.9GHz High Performance, Low Pass Integrated Thin Film Filter In Ultra Miniature 0805 Case

AVX Corporation, a leading manufacturer of passive components and interconnect solutions, has released a new 2.9GHz 0805 high performance, low pass integrated thin film (ITF) SMD filter that exhibits low insertion loss and extremely sharp roll-off in high frequency (1.7GHz – 2.9GHz) wireless applications, including: mobile communications systems, microcell and picocell base stations, satellite TV receivers, global positioning systems (GPS), vehicle location systems, and wireless large area networks (LANs). Based on thin film multilayer technology, the new 2.9GHz filter delivers excellent high frequency performance, and features an ultra miniature 0805 chip size with a rugged construction for reliable automatic assembly.

D/A Converter Offers More Accuracy in a Smaller Footprint for Diverse Applications Ranging from Radar to Smartphone Testing

Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) today introduced the AD9164 D/A converter that brings high-resolution radar images for designers of military and commercial radar while reducing solution component count. Additionally, for designers of precision instrumentation equipment, such as smartphone testers, the new device ensures improved accuracy as well as speed of test, contributing to faster market-ready time while significantly decreasing tester complexity and size. Thanks to its audio to 6 GHz frequency coverage, the AD9164 D/A converter moves the tester market one step closer to a universal wireless test platform.

Find the right coils for wireless power transfer

Würth Elektronik eiSos is the manufacturer with the world’s broadest product spectrum of wireless power charging coils. Now the company provides developers with a tool to simplify selection of the right transmitter and receiver coils. Mix and Match, like the world's most precise AC loss calculator for power inductors, is another offering from the REDEXPERT Toolbox. Also like the other tools in REDEXPERT, Mix and Match shows online accessible product specifications are based on extensive electrical performance measurements of the individual modules in sample applications.
