Bourns Completes First Phase of Murata Trimmer Product Transition

Bourns, Inc., a leading manufacturer and supplier of electronic components, has completed the first phase of the transition of Murata® trimmer products. Bourns announced earlier this year that it would acquire specific assets of Murata's product line. To ease the conversion to Bourns-manufactured replacement products, Murata granted Bourns permission to continue to use its original part numbers. Bourns will continue to manufacture the acquired trimmer products to Murata specifications, and the company will honor its standard warranty terms on replacement products based on Murata specifications.

Murata launches ultra compact low cost standalone LoRa module

Murata today announced the launch of a compact low-cost low power wide area network (LPWAN) wireless module that supports the LoRaWAN long range wireless protocol. This standalone compact module measures just 12.5 x 11.6 x 1.76 mm, is constructed in a metal shielded package and comprises a Semtech SX1276 ultra long range spread spectrum wireless transceiver and an STMicro STM32L0 series ARM Cortex M0+ 32 bit microcontroller (MCU). An integrated TCXO that has robust low drift thermal characteristics provides an accurate clock source for the RF transceiver.

Murata to introduce the world’s first 05025M size monolithic ceramic capacitor with a capacitance value of 1 μF

Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has developed the world’s first 05025M size (0.5 × 0.25 × 0.25 mm) monolithic ceramic capacitor with a capacitance value of 1 μF (X5R characteristics, 6.3 V rated voltage), and started mass production in April 2016.

Mobile electronics such as smartphones and wearable devices are becoming smaller, thinner, and more sophisticated. With these advancements, the number of components mounted on the substrate is increasing, driving the need for even smaller and thinner components. Accordingly, Murata increased the accuracy of its proprietary elemental technology and developed the world’s first 05025M size monolithic ceramic capacitor, thereby achieving a capacitance value of 1 μF (X5R characteristics*1, 6.3 V rated voltage) in the world’s smallest component volume. With this new capacitor, Murata will again contribute to the continuing miniaturization and sophistication of mobile electronics.

Automotive 150°C class ferrite bead, solder mountable

Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. is proud to announce the simultaneous release of four series of ferrite beads in the 0603 (1.6 x 0.8 mm) size that can be solder-mounted and are guaranteed to function at a temperature of 150°C and are designed for automotive powertrain and safety applications.

As automobiles incorporate an ever increasing amount of electrical parts and as more and more electrically powered automobiles are being developed, more noise suppression products are being used in the powertrain and safety circuits that require high levels of reliability. In particular, environments that are in close proximity to engine compartments, noise suppression products that are guaranteed to function at temperatures above the 125°C level required in the past are now in demand. In response, Murata has been supplying ferrite beads that are guaranteed to work at 150°C, but these beads supported mounting by means of conductive adhesives rather than by solder.
