Maxim Announces Industry's First Remote Tuner Solution with Single Hardware Platform Supporting Worldwide Radio Standards for Automotive Applications

MAX2175 RF to Bits® tuner-based solution reduces cables and simplifies vehicle head unit design

Using the remote tuner solution from Maxim Integrated Products, Inc. (NASDAQ: MXIM), designers can significantly simplify the head unit design of a vehicle and reduce cables. The MAX2175 RF to Bits tuner within the solution eliminates the need to rework the vehicle's hardware to support worldwide radio standards, allowing updates by simply changing the vehicle's software.

Traditional radio architecture brings many challenges to vehicle designers. The vehicle's complex head unit must accommodate multiple tuners, manage heat dissipation, and receive multiple cables from the antennas. In addition, the received analog signals pick up noise as they travel from the antenna to the head unit of the vehicle. Finally, baseband processing uses single purpose hardware, requiring separate designs to support multiple worldwide radio standards.

KEMET Advances Capacitor Solutions for Wide Band Gap Semiconductor Power Systems

KEMET Corporation (NYSE: KEM), a leading global supplier of electronic components, announced today that it is introducing expanded versions of its commercial and automotive grade High Voltage C0G Ceramic capacitors to meet the needs of the growing Wide Band Gap semiconductor trend. KEMET is now offering case sizes 2824, 3040, 3640, and 4540 to increase capacitance up to 150 nF with voltages up to 2,000 V. With a low profile and aspect ratio, these devices exhibit low inductance and ESR versus frequency allowing for very high ripple current capability.

Infineon speeds up in-vehicle communication and makes it secure and reliable with CAN FD transceivers

Around 60 electronic control units communicate with each other in vehicles today via the Controller Area Network (CAN). The need for in-vehicle communication is growing as the amount of networking increases and more comfort and automation are implemented. The new protocol variant CAN FD (CAN Flexible Data-rate) allows a higher data bandwidth and transmission speed. This saves time in programming, in tests and diagnostic routines as well as for software updates over the air (SOTA).

With its TLE925x CAN FD transceivers, Infineon Technologies makes data exchange up to 30 times faster than today. The TLE925x reaches transmission speeds of up to 5 Mbit/s. Compared to the classical CAN transceivers with a maximum of 8 byte, the CAN FD transceivers such as TLE925x can send a payload of up to 64 byte per message. This opens up the possibility to check the transmitted data for consistency in the transmitting control unit and to sign it with a 21-bit checksum instead of the 17-bit possible so far. Longer checksums ensure reliable communication between the control units. This makes it possible to better secure data transmission in the vehicle without the application software becoming more complex in the electronic control unit.

Fairchild Launches SuperFET III MOSFET Family with Best-in-Class Efficiency and Reliability

Better Efficiency, EMI and Ruggedness Make SuperFET III MOSFETs Ideal for High-Performance Products with Demanding Robustness and Reliability Requirements

Fairchild Semiconductor, now part of ON Semiconductor), today introduced its SuperFET® III family of 650V N-channel MOSFETs, the company’s new generation of MOSFETs that meet the higher power density, system efficiency and exceptional reliability requirements of the latest telecom, server, electric vehicle (EV) charger and solar products.

The SuperFET III MOSFET family combines best-in-class reliability, low EMI, excellent efficiency and superior thermal performance to make it an ideal choice for high-performance applications. Cypress Enables Secure, High-Speed Networking for Automotive Body Electronics with New Traveo MCU Solutions

Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NASDAQ: CY) today announced it is sampling new devices in its single-power-supply Traveo™ automotive microcontroller (MCU) family that provide secure, high-speed networking for body electronics applications. The new S6J342xxx series supports the Controller Area Network Flexible Data-rate (CAN FD) standard for high-speed, in-vehicle networking, enabling large amounts of data to be exchanged between each CAN node. The MCUs address the critical need to secure data on in-vehicle networks with enhanced Secure Hardware Extension (eSHE) support, preventing unauthorized connections to electronic control units (ECUs). The new Traveo series continues Cypress’s expansion of its broad automotive portfolio that includes MCUs, wireless radios, memories, capacitive-touch solutions and Power Management ICs (PMICs).

Intel Atom Processor E3900 Series: Enabling Next Generator of Smart and Connectied IoT Devices stars

New Processor Series Moves Computing Power Nearer to Sensor, Alleviating Need to Push All Processing to Data Center

The Internet of Things (IoT) is linking billions of smart and connected devices to each other, creating a wave of change in how we live and work. The number of connected machines is expected to dramatically increase – by 2020, 50 billion devices (Cisco IBSG) will create 44 zettabytes (of 44 trillion gigabytes) of data annually, and will require much more processing power at the edge, and in the fog to network in order to maintain viability.

To support these experiences, today at IoT Solutions World Congress, Intel is announcing the latest generation of the Intel® Atom™ processors for IoT applications. The new Intel Atom processor E3900 series is designed from the ground up to support the rapid development and the growing complexity of IoT businesses. The result is a processor exceptionally capable of delivering on performance, processing and scalability.
